How do you remove vowels from text?
“programming” in, “prgrmmng” out: the tool deletes every a, e, i, o and u, upper or lower case, and keeps all the consonants, digits and spacing. The letter y never counts as a vowel here, and accented vowels such as é pass through untouched, so run text through the diacritics remover first if you want those gone too. Handy for shorthand, puzzles and stylised handles.
How to use the Vowel Remover
- 1 Enter a few words or a whole passage.
- 2 The disemvowelled version renders alongside, minus every a, e, i, o and u.
- 3 Copy the consonant-only output.
What you can use it for
- Creating disemvowelled or shorthand text.
- Making text-message style abbreviations.
- Building material for word games.
- Compressing words for stylised display.
Frequently asked questions
Is y removed too?
No. Only a, e, i, o and u are deleted, in both cases. Y stays because it works as a consonant as often as a vowel.
What about é, ö and other accented vowels?
They are left alone; the filter matches the five plain letters only. Strip the accents first with the diacritics remover if you need those gone as well.
Why would anyone disemvowel text?
It compresses words while leaving them mostly readable (txt-spk style), softens spoilers on forums, and makes raw material for word puzzles.
