Replace Letters With Numbers

Turn text into leetspeak by swapping letters for look-alike numbers.

Text Tools Runs in your browser

How do you replace letters with numbers?

Number-only leetspeak replaces letters with look-alike digits from a fixed table: a→4, b→8, e→3, g→6, i and l→1, o→0, s→5, t→7, z→2. Run “leetspeak” through it and you get “13375p34k”. Letters without a digit twin, plus spaces and punctuation, pass through untouched, so the result stays readable while looking like classic forum text.

How to use the Replace Letters With Numbers

  1. 1 Write or paste the words to convert.
  2. 2 Mapped letters flip to their digit look-alikes as you go.
  3. 3 Tweak the original text until the leet version reads well.
  4. 4 Copy the converted string.

What you can use it for

  • Creating leetspeak usernames and gamertags.
  • Styling text for retro or gaming themes.
  • Generating number-coded nicknames for chat.
  • Seeding memorable-but-odd password ideas.

Frequently asked questions

Which letters get replaced?
Ten of them: a→4, b→8, e→3, g→6, i→1, l→1, o→0, s→5, t→7 and z→2. Everything else is left as typed.
Are spaces and punctuation kept?
Yes. The substitution only touches the ten mapped letters, so sentence structure, casing of unmapped letters and all punctuation survive.
What is the difference from Words to Symbols?
This table is digits only, which matters where symbols are banned — usernames, for instance. Words to Symbols adds punctuation look-alikes such as @ and $ for a heavier style.
